VirtualDJ on some M1 Macs, with stems set to 'Always'
On some Mac M1 models, VirtualDJ's stem separation set to 'Always' works the computer so hard as each track loads that your sound can drop out for a moment. This is a macOS error, and it has been reported on Apple's developer forum.
The solution is one of these:
- If you scratch, or don't use stems: set stems to On-Demand. In our tests, macOS then doesn't lose the audio from VirtualDJ.
- If you use stems through your set: keep 'Always' and set Performance → Latency to 512. It adds about a hundredth of a second to the software's response time, and in our tests it also stops macOS losing the audio from VirtualDJ.
