Terms
The terms.
Last updated:
These are the terms for using DJ back 2 back (DJb2b): the website djb2b.com and the DJ back 2 back app. When you sign up, you agree to them.
Who we are
DJ back 2 back is run by Mat, trading as Cadence Highway. Address: coming shortly. Contact: support@djb2b.com.
Who can use it
- DJ back 2 back is for people 18 and over. You confirm it when you sign up. If your account was made before we asked, you confirm it once before your next session. We close an account we learn belongs to someone under 18.
- It's open to DJs in most countries. New sign-ups aren't open yet in the places listed on our Where we operate page. If you signed up from one of them, you can still log in and download or delete your data, but you can't link up or post until we open there.
- One person, one account. Don't make an account for someone else, or a new one to get round a suspension or a closure.
Your account
- Sign up with an email you can get to. Confirm it before you start or join a session.
- Your password needs at least 8 characters. Use one you don't use anywhere else, and keep it to yourself.
- A login lasts 30 days from when you last used it. Log out on a computer you share.
- Think someone else has got into your account? Tell us straight away at support@djb2b.com.
- You can download your data or delete your account at any time on your account page.
- Deleting removes your logins, your public page, your Mixcloud link and the sets on Mixes whose show is on your own Mixcloud account.
- Any board posts from before the boards closed then read "[removed]".
- We keep the record of your sessions and any purchases, with no email or name attached.
The beta
- DJ back 2 back is in beta. It works, and some things will break. When they do, tell us.
- During the beta it's free and there's no session limit.
- An account made during the beta is a beta account. It keeps working through the beta and a short transition after it. After that, it can't start or join sessions unless it's paying. You can still log in, and your profile stays.
- We'll say when the beta ends, and when the transition ends, on our news page and by email, before either happens.
Sessions
- A session is one link-up between two DJs through the app.
- Its length is set when the session is made (an invite or a link), and you see it before you start: 60 minutes as standard, shorter when the site is busy, and never less than 30 minutes. Once set, it's kept. When it's reached, you're both told time's up, and you get 2 minutes to finish your track before the session closes.
- A session counts once you've been linked for over 10 minutes. A shorter link-up, or one that never comes up, costs nothing.
- Your mix goes to the other DJ over an encrypted link. When you link up by an invite by DJ name or a link, it goes straight to them, or through Cloudflare's relay when your networks need one, and the DJ you link with gets your internet address, so the two apps can connect directly. When you link up from Live, it goes through Cloudflare's relay, so they don't. We don't record your sound.
- A session depends on both DJs' internet and gear, so we can't promise every link-up works, or that it has no delay.
Paying, after the beta
- Payments are off during the beta. Nothing is charged.
- After the beta, DJ back 2 back will be priced from £4.99 a month (or the local equivalent), up to an unlimited plan. It renews each month until you cancel.
- Cancelling, refunds and your 14 days to change your mind are on our Cancellation and refunds page.
Music and copyright
- The music you play belongs to its artists, labels and songwriters. Using DJ back 2 back gives you no rights in it.
- Only play, record or share music you have the right to use.
- If you record or stream a session, publish it only on a service that holds licences from the rights holders covering DJ mixes, such as Mixcloud. Don't publish it anywhere that doesn't, unless you own or have cleared the rights yourself.
- A session has two DJs. Get the other DJ's agreement before you publish a recording of it.
- You're responsible for what you record, publish or stream. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we act on valid copyright complaints.
More on Copyright & Mixcloud. To report an infringement, see Copyright complaints.
Recording and sharing a session
- Ticking "Share this recording" at the end of a session means you and the other DJ each agree that either of you may publish that recording on a licensed service. If either of you doesn't tick it, neither of you may publish it, and we don't make the combined file. Each tick is recorded with both DJ names and the time.
- If you tell us you own all rights in a track, you promise that's true. Your permission covers that one recording only. If the promise isn't true, you're responsible for any claim that follows.
Your public page, Live and sets
- Your public page: it's off until you turn it on. It shows your DJ name, the genres you pick, your verified Mixcloud and its sets. It never shows your email, your library or your sessions.
- Live: while you're switched on, logged-in DJs see your DJ name and how long you've waited, and your genres if you match on them. If you've added a live link, they see that too.
- Mixes: either DJ from a session can list the set's Mixcloud show, if it's on either DJ's verified Mixcloud account. Members can like a set, once each, but never their own. Likes can't be bought, sold or faked.
- Your content: what you add stays yours. You let us show it on DJ back 2 back for as long as it's up.
- Rules: follow our Community rules on all of these.
Reporting and moderation
- See something wrong? Use Report where you see it, or the Report something page.
- Block anyone on Live and you stop seeing each other, on Live and in invites.
- We review reports. We can take your public page down, delete a set, or suspend or close your account.
- You can ask us why, and appeal within 6 months. See Complaints and appeals.
Suspension and closure
- We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or our community rules, that belongs to someone under 18, or that the law requires us to.
- A suspended account can't log in, nothing of it shows publicly, and the same email can't sign up again while the suspension lasts.
- A closed account can't log in, and nothing of it shows publicly. Unless an appeal succeeds, we delete it 6 months later, or at once if it appears to belong to someone under 18, and the same email can't sign up again for 24 months.
- Copyright strikes:
- If a valid copyright complaint makes us take down something you posted, that's a strike on your account. It stays for 12 months. A strike comes off if your counter-notice puts the material back.
- Three strikes in 12 months and we close your account.
- We close an account straight away if it exists mainly to share other people's music.
- You can close your account any time by deleting it.
- If we ever shut DJ back 2 back down, we'll email you at least 30 days before, and refund any time you've paid for and can't use.
Our liability
- We provide DJ back 2 back with reasonable care and skill.
- We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care. We're not responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable.
- If you use DJ back 2 back for a business, we're not responsible for lost profit, lost business or business interruption.
- If the app or the site damages your device or other digital content because we didn't take reasonable care and skill, we'll repair the damage or pay you for it.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or anything else the law doesn't let us limit. Nothing in them takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
- When we change these terms, we change the date at the top.
- If a change affects you, we email you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
- If you don't agree, you can stop using DJ back 2 back and delete your account before then. If you're paying, you can cancel, and we refund any time you've paid for after the change.
Law and courts
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
- You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring it there.
- If you live in another country, you keep the protection of the consumer laws there that can't be set aside by agreement.
