DJ back 2 back 0.2.0-beta.6.1
- Added logging in with socials.
- Automatic updates: the app updates itself when we release a new version.
- Security and stability fixes.
DJ back 2 back 0.2.0-beta.6
- Your partner on their own channel of your club style mixer; on a USB controller, their fader either mapped to a fader on your controller or on screen.
- Record the whole set at full quality, as a 24-bit WAV, when you both switch on "Recording". On a Mac.
- Stream your set live: when you both switch on "Streaming", OBS gets the whole set. On a Mac.
- See your partner's waveform (CDJ-3000s, 3000Xs and VirtualDJ at present), and set your mix-in point.
- "Soundcheck" before the set: check your levels and try a test handover. Nothing is recorded or streamed.
- One button for each step of a handover: "Handover", "Accept handover", then "Confirm partner is mixed out". The window's border shows when you're live.
- An "Intro countdown" before the set: 1 minute, 30 seconds or 10 seconds, picked in Settings > Session.
- Text-chat: once you've both done the 18+ check and turned Text-chat on, Text-chat takes the place of Messages and opens beside the app, with Report and Block at the top.
- Ten quick messages, up from six.
- "Invites", "Looking for a session" and "Friends" beside the gear. Invite friends by email, text, WhatsApp, X, Facebook or QR code.
- Levels are evened out at each handover in your recording and stream.
- A set can now run up to 2 hours.
- Security and stability fixes.
DJ back 2 back 0.2.0-beta.5
- Quick messages: six quick buttons on the session screen to send your partner a message.
- Stream your set on Mixcloud Live: a help page, linked from Live and from Settings > Help.
- No more voice cues at a handover; the on-screen lines stay.
- Fewer false alarms: a short dropout to djb2b.com or of your partner's room is only shown after 20 seconds, unless their audio has gone too.
- One connection light beside "Connected to …", in place of the link details.
- A new logo and app icon.
- No rating questions after a practice.
DJ back 2 back 0.2.0-beta.4
What changed for a DJ, from beta.3.
A simpler app
- One screen at a time: log in, then Ready with one Connect button, then the session with one big button, Handover or Accept.
- Everything else is in Settings, behind the gear, or under Settings… in the app's menu. The menu is just Settings…, Log out and Close.
- Connect joins in one press: an invite to you, your session, a share link, or a Live link-up. With nothing waiting, it says so and points you to Live on the website.
- A link opened in the app only sets up what Connect joins. Nothing joins until you press Connect.
Your sound
- On a Mac, the app sets up DJb2b's sound settings once. In Settings you switch between your settings and DJb2b's.
- Your own settings are put back when you switch off or quit, or after a crash the next time the app starts. Your DJ software isn't changed.
- On Windows, the app tells you how to pick your controller in Windows' Sound settings.
While you play
- No spoken cues: the app no longer says "You have control" or "Handover complete" in your headphones. The same lines show on screen, and the buttons tell you who has the decks.
- A connection light beside "Connected to …": Good, Some delay or break-ups, or Poor.
- A short drop of the app's link to djb2b.com isn't shown. Your audio, Handover and Accept carry on. If it lasts 20 seconds, one line says so, with a code to report.
- A problem shows with a code and a Report button. Report fills in the code and the app's version, and never your system.
Also
- "Forgot your password?" shows after a log-in that didn't work.
- Live links any gear with any gear.
- The app checks your system when it starts. It needs macOS 14.2 or later, or Windows 11, 64-bit, and says so if not.
Known
- Windows on ARM: the tap helper hasn't been tested.
